Peru > France any day of the week. Vote accordingly.

Albums:

1. Joanna Newsom - Ys

Hayden wrote:
Very Neutral Milk Hotel inspired. This is an album that I could say some days is amazing, and some days I couldn't even listen to it. Really weird. I might need to listen to it 3-4 times before I understand it, but for now, it's 65/100. Also, Best song is Only Skin.

Hayden wrote:
@Jim, Ya, started to like it a bit more. Still don't think it's the 5 star album that some people say it is, but it's definitely good. Looking back at that comment made in March, I stand by the NMH inspiration, because I still think that there is one. Great voice, great talent though.

Fuck it. This is incredible. Screw my last 2 comments.

2. TV on the Radio - Return to Cookie Mountain

3. Belle And Sebastian - The Life Pursuit

What a lovely collection of songs!

Jhereko wrote:
lovely time-travelling album. 'For The Price Of A Cup Of Tea' is well catchy.

4. Thom Yorke - The Eraser

Paladisiac wrote:
It's very synth and computer-process heavy, outlining bleak landscapes as you'd imagine on either "kid a" or "amnesiac" but also allowing for some openness not found on those radiohead albums. Some of these songs do remind me of a simplified "like spinning plates" or "pyramid song", which is the ultimate compliment.

5. J Dilla - Donuts

McHugho wrote:
Quite simply the most emotional hip hop album of all time for me.

Singles:

1. Hubcap City - Madhouse

Link

2. Justice vs. Simian - We Are Your Friends

Link

3. Lilly Allen - Smile

Link

4. When You Were Young - The Killers

Link

5. Grizzly Bear - On A Neck, On A Spit

No option to vote up yet?

Black Flag and Daniel Johnston pushing me towards 1981 as it stands, but Ys, Belle & Seb and J Dilla are pulling me back in the other direction. Tough.

I have a feeling the 2006 team was rigged to get my vote Laughing

It's obviously my choice of the two.

You guys probably already know everything in my team but one single - I really recommend you check out Hubcap City's song. It was featured as the second half of a split with Deerhunter (whose lead track will be used in a later round).

Haha! Pretty much had the same thought. But for Cellar's. All of his picks could easily be on my overall. Haha! Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure two of them already are.

06 gets DEMOLISHED. This isn't hard at all for me, not a fan of a lot of the more popular releases in 06 (Newsom's never done anything for me, sorrynotsorry). The only album I'd put as good is J Dilla's, and TV on the Radio sneaks in with an "above average".

Whereas 81? OMD, Black Flag, and The Cure. There's no voting against that, CD put out an insane team. EDIT: I saw those three and that was enough to beat all of 06, missed one of Johnston's better releases. Seriously, this is no contest.

Leaning 81 on the fact it just feels a bit more complete, even though 06 rivals it with it's highlights (and I love that you included the JMan anthem). Although Damaged is great and Red Mecca is another extremely underrated album, the combination of Ys-Return To Cookie Mountain-Donuts is as top notch as it gets. Again, hard decision.
