1. It has a nice groove, which the Fresh Prince explicitly states is to "break the monotony" of hardcore dance. I don't know what he considered "hardcore dance," but I like to think this is a jab at C+C Music Factory's "Gonna Make You Sweat," which was all over the damn place when he and Jazzy Jeff went into the studio.
2. It contains the lyrics "let the Alpine blast," which is so early 90s I can hardly stand it. Does Alpine even make head units these days?
3. It also contains the lyric "the summer's a natural aphrodisiac," which I never considered until he said it, but which I now regard as self-evident.
4. Do I even need to get into how he's going to buy a new pair of shoes just to impress girls at the basketball court?
5. Then he talks about the barbecue at 4! He's already had a pretty good day, and it's only early afternoon!
6. And, if we accept video evidence, he closes out the day cruising in a convertible.
Seriously, One Summer Night is good, but I want every day of summer to be like the day in this song.
Ehhh I never really had any affinity for that song. As far as the radio tracks on here go, this probably ranks towards the bottom for me. Never has struck me on any level approaching Fantasy or I Wish.
I love Pom Pom, I've played it probably over a dozen times this year, but I still can't fathom voting for One Summer Night over Summertime. I actually figured it would win the entire tournament.
