Lamar's latest album drop was less of a drop and more of an event, earning a 9.3 from Pitchfork and a 10/10 from theneedledrop, two accolades that will make any hipster drool at the mouth. It's quickly topped our own 2015 chart, but due to the restrictions placed on the Overall Chart last year, it will most likely not be making an appearance on the top 1000 this year.

However, it's massive impact has left one question. Will it rise to the top of BEA's ranks as quickly as "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" and "Merriweather Post Pavilion" did? Or will it flounder around at another ranking? You can also comment on his 2012 release's near-equal impressiveness and it's place on the chart.

Another free response question I pose to you: If TPAB does not make it, what post-2012 albums might? Which albums universally praised in recent years are doomed to be forgotten?

I'd say it probably will.

as for the more substantive question at the bottom: maybe not on BEA, but one can hope people will forget Tame Impala sooner rather than later. also not on the Overall because of the relative lack of influence forum regulars have vs. all the lurkers who make charts, but maybe by the next Forum Regulars' Top [xxx] Albums, we'll see a bit more personality in the post-2012 picks (don't have the list handy from last time, so this isn't a slight against the last list, though i don't remember a shocking post-2012 pick by any means). my preference would obviously be for more of a drift towards the underground electronic scenes that i feel have dominated in terms of quality releases for close to a decade now if not more that are pretty well swept under the rug when it comes to those Big Data aggregates.

Laughing

Maybe one day.

Anyway, I don't think TPAB will reach out top 100. Top 400-ish probably. Despite the love from some forum regulars, BEA still isn't very hip-hop friendly.

GMKC is at 130 and continually rises so that album definitely could and also TPAB is on a lot of overall charts so if they all update next year it could debut high in '16. TPAB also has an 88/100 average so I'd say it definitely could happen. It's also the greatest album ever made so BEA has to recognize that.

I have to add that I would love to see it in our top 100, that'd be fantastic, I'm just not too sure if it'll happen. I don't even think it's in our top 100 of the 10's right now. I'd take it over at least 30% of our top 100 though.

Are you talking about GKMC? Because that is #3 on the 2010's chart.

If you're talking about TPAB, it is impossible to pin at the moment, unless someone can manipulate the chart through customization to essentially undo albummaster's edit.
