"Overrated" is such an over-utilized, completely subjective (and trite) criticism. Even if I didn't love Pet Sounds I would think no different that the word is basically meaningless and lazy. You don't have to have a "campaign" because you don't like an iconic or well-loved record.

I know this. I was just wondering if anyone thought the same thing. I never said overrated is bad, and I never said that the album was bad. I just don't think it should be rated as highly as it is. Ain't rocket science.

No, but it is pointless and not really worth saying as far as I'm concerned.
Pet Sounds is a masterpiece unrivaled in modern music, and a product of one of the most brilliant minds in the universe. I don't care if it's overrated.
What would be much more reasonable is to start conversing with site members who have it high up on their charts and then ask them what makes the album a personal favorite. Then you could go back into the album from that new perspective which might change your opinion or it may not. A whole thread dedicated to "I think this album is overrated" is pointless and new threads should not really be used to just state your opinion on one very narrow topic _________________
