Every time I enjoy an album from the year in which I was born, it makes me slightly happier than with any other album.
I don't know why, maybe because 1993 was a really shit year for music.

Anyway, post your top five albums from your year of birth!

1. Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Work Vol.1 [85-92]
2. Nirvana - In Utero
3. The Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
4. Souls of Mischief - 93 'til Infinity
5. Blur - Modern Life Is Rubbish

Ugh. I'm probably not going to do this. 1981 might have been the worst year for music ever. Outside of Rush and Heaven 17 you could probably erase the rest from history without skipping a beat.

According to BEA charts, there's only two (TWO!) albums in the top 100 albums from the 80s in 1981. And none in the top 175 overall.

Lot's of great post-punk and no wave releases though (This Heat, Television Personalities, Wipers, Duretti Column...).

As for 1985 (meh) if I were to choose five :

- "Psychocandy" by The Jesus and Mary Chain
- "Tim" by The Replacements
- "This Nation's Saving Grace" by The Fall
- "New Day Rising" by Hรผsker Dรผ
- "Rain Dogs" by Tom Waits

What about Dare - The Human League? You like Heaven 17 so I think you might like it.

You're joking, right?

Anyway, 1975's a tough year...I'm not a big Zeppelin fan so I won't list Physical Grafitti...

The final list...slim pickings, so it's definitely a tough call to even pick 5...a lot of good singles in '75, not many good albums.
1. Shaved Fish - John Lennon
2. Radio-Activity - Kraftwerk
3. Still Crazy After All These Years - Paul Simon
4. Young Americans - David Bowie
5. ABBA - ABBA
