Not as a whole btw.
When I think of it, the 90s had some fantastic music....it also had some of the worst....but still! Some phenomenol stuff came out then and to an extent I think the 90s overshadow a lot of music today. But was it really the best decade for music? I don't know to be honest. Part of me says yes but for different reasons.

The 1990s were a great decade, maybe even the best overall for Rock. When some of its most universally acclaimed albums are excellent but not even close to its best works (Ok Computer, Nevermind, In Utero, The Soft Bulletin...), good chance it's a hell of a decade. But throughout music history there are others Id rank higher (even if less prolific), due to so many of history's greatest masterpieces emerging. The 1820s for instance, comes immediately to mind. _________________ Best Classical

I do think the 90's was a cool decade but I feel musically the 2000's as well as the 2010's so far. Also the best album of the 90's was California by Mr.Bungle.

1990's are my favourite decade for music, so I'm in the minority (for once).
Plus my favourite album of all time was released in '93. _________________ Some RYM paraphernalia:

The thread title asks were the '90s 'the best decade for music?' But poll question asks were the '90s 'the most radical generation for music'? So what exactly are we supposed to answer? Because to be 'good' and to be 'radical' are different things.
Anyway the '90s are my favorite decade for music.

Depends, i often think it was the best decade for electronic music and a big Improvement over the 80s for rock music. But the 70s and 60s really over-shadow the h90s for Rock. Although there was much more good rock music in the 90s than there is today. Rock is just a shadow of its former self.

The decade we're in right now seems pretty incredible to me ๐ Definitely a big fan of 90s stuff though, that would be my next choice.
