Look at these Top 200 Albums of All Time lists from 78 & 87.
The first one I actually had the book , and its what first got me into Top Album lists in the first place. And its been an obsession ever since.
Its fascinating to see HOW SIMILAR THEY ARE TO BEA'S LIST TODAY. All the usual favorites are there. Dark Side of the Moon is way down near # 130 in 1978, but by 1987 it was up to number 15. . But Beatles and Beach Boys etc. are just about where you'd find em on BEA today.
Love: Forever Changes already very high in both lists, whereas I always thought it was a later re-discovery, like Big Star was in the 90's (actually Radio City is already N°78 in the 1987 list. Interresting)
No trace of The Queen is Dead in 1987 list. Too recent perhaps. But it's odd. From what year did it rise ?

Yeah some lists are hilarious, like the Q Magazine 50 Indie Rock Records You Must Own (30 albums and 20 singles) in which UK is never mentioned but they do succeed to include not one US Indie record.
And the Q 50 bands You Must see before You Die with Ash as the second and lots of other bands a sane music fan wouldn't even want to go to as a walking dead.
But it also makes reference to best music magazine ever (in fact a TV magazine but with a great music section and unfortunately in Flemish)

I don't know. Would be interesting to know when the Smiths started to rise.
No Cure nor Joy Division in the second list.
No Nick Drake in both lists
+ perhaps a certain lassitude of Pink Floyd: ok, Dark Side is rising from N°15 to N° 135 inbetween. But Wish you Were Here is falling from N°146 to none.
And no The Wall (in the 2nd) and no Piper at The Gates of Dawn in both !
this said, its' only two lists among others maybe (but not as much as today); it's telling anyways

I think all the ones you mentioned are in the individual lists down below the charts. I'm pretty sure I saw each of them there.
