Marillion's sprawling compositions and eclectic or even esoteric songs and cycles are at their best, phenomenally tight but sometimes come out a bit disjointed as they do in this album. Which isn't to say this isn't a great album; it just lacks that touch of perfection that appears when they had all their ducks in a row or such as you might find in the early Genesis they resemble so often. But there are cuts here where Fish is at his finest, Jigsaw being a highlight.
