The blue collar romanticism is probably a bit too much for some people to stomach (or maybe it's just the quality of the lyrics which tend to get a bit banal, as in "Working on the highway laying down the blacktop, working on the highway all day long I don't stop, working on the highway blasting through the bedrock, working on the highway, working on the highway"). As a collection of rock & roll songs I find it stellar though, starting off with the national anthem and never letting up (save Dancing in the Dark which is too cheesy even for my taste).

Score: 4.04/5.00 (great).
Rank: 57/944.
Top tracks: Born in the U.S.A, Darlington County, I'm on Fire, Glory Days.

I must like my cheese because I quite like Dancing in the Dark! 🫢 Apart from that, I like 'My Hometown' from this album as well.

They are all good songs, My Hometown included. As for Dancing in the Dark I think MTV ruined it for me. It's not bad, just too greasy.

it's just a tune I remember from my school days. 🫢

I'm not his biggest fan, but there's no doubt he's a fantastic live performer. I watched his set at Glastonbury and he was amazing.
