The Go Team song has grown on me since the last time I heard it, but this is still a pretty easy vote for Family Business. _________________ And it's hard to be a human being. And it's harder as anything else.
Tough matchup! As I said before, Ladyflash is pretty much a perfect song. But so is Family Business, and in my opinion it's perfect-er. This is Kanye at his most comfy, most soulful, most for the culture. You've got bars, wordplay, evocative storytelling, social commentary, emotional poignance, a funky flip of an obscure sample, gospel-style backing vocals. Even if you didn't grow up Black in America, I hope Kanye's family stories are something you can relate to on some level, Polaroids that can send you down memory lane. It might not be the most obvious Kanye nomination (after all, both College Dropout and Late Registration are stacked with classics), but it's a personal favorite. _________________ Join us in the canon game / Add me on RYM
Yeah I'm actually going Family Business, does hit the Kanye buttons I like the most, though it's got a very strong competitor even if I was never quite behind the Go!Team hype, though this song is definitely one of their strongest.
Not sure 'Family Business' would've been my Kanye pick, but I can totally understand why it would be somebody else's. It's top ten or twenty Kanye material, which is good enough to beat (the admittedly extremely charming) 'Ladyflash'. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Yeah sorry there is some Kanye stuff that I really enjoy, esp. on Late Reg, and this song is quite nice, but overall I still don't quite get the hype. I really love that Go Team album, so...
