BEA Chart of the day random album

Every so often, I grab today’s chart of the day, grab a random album and give it a listen. Like it or not!!

Today’s album is a classic, (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? One of BEA’s top 50 albums of all time.

My first thought was “groan”. I’ve always felt Oasis was overrated. I bought this album when it came out, because I loved Wonderwall. I don’t think I listened to the whole album more than once or twice.

BUT, I have a rule here, and that is “I must listen to the entire album, like it or not”. Third song in, the aforementioned Wonderwall, and so far I’m happy to report that I’m knocked out. These songs are amazing! Looking forward to listening to the rest and checking back in with an update.

Thanks for your open mindedness Len.

Must admit this was the first thing I bought after something of a album buying hiatus while the kids were little, largely I was seduced by Wonderwall too (although I also loved Don't Look Back in Anger) and I have to credit with this album with giving me a refreshed enthusiasm for music at the time.

After finishing (What’s the story) Morning Glory? by Oasis, my opinion on that album has completely changed. I’ve acquired a taste for well crafted pop since then and this album is an amazing example of that. One great song after another. Makes me want to dig deeper into their work.

Today’s pick is Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti’s Before Today

Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti’s Before Today... very good album. Very difficult to pigeonhole their sound which I like. Dark, theatrical, atmospheric pop were all thoughts that came up while listening.

U.S. Girls - Half Free

Today’s list is the top 100 albums of the 2010s by SquishypuffDave. I was looking forward to listening to an album from this list because I don’t know a lot of modern music.

Good album. Dark and atmospheric. Really enjoy the soundscapes they create. Overall not what I usually listen to. I prefer more upbeat music, but I did enjoy spending time with this album.

Next up from today’s list - Last Ex

Last Ex sounds like great music to drive through the desert to. Unfortunately, I’m at work. A little too open and low key for my tastes.

Third rando from today’s chat of the day.

Meshes of Voice - by Jenny Hval & Susanna

Haunting. Great voices (I see what you did there with that album title)

SquishypuffDave definitely has a wheelhouse. Sparse and spacy.
