Yeah fuck this matchup, going for my own nomination, but Avalanches get my vote in 90% other cases.
I do kind of regret my nominations for the tournament, and while I would still nominate an Animal Collective track if I did it again, I'd probably pick something that better represents their 2000s output (eg. Purple Bottle, Fireworks, Who Could Win a Rabbit, ...). Alvin Row is still a dear favourite though, it's basically a culmination of everything on that album. I don't think any artist conveys feelings of nostalgia and growing up better than this guys do.

I love that Avalanches cut! Being older, I really resonate with how absolutely perfectly it captures and expresses a certain 70s soul vibe that I didn't really appreciate at the time but have come to love over the years.
But Alvin Row just has soooooo much going on; so much going for it musically and compositionally. I have to vote for it, but I'd much rather have seen these two both have the opportunity to advance much deeper into the bracket.
I think I'll probably go Avalanches, just because I treat a 'best song' tournament as a pop song tournament. Both are excellent, though. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.
