"Thuggin", a 2010s classic that hasn't worn itself out. Given that may be unfair to Lorde, as influential as "Royals" was, but I also think there were better songs from this era and I'm fine with never ever hearing that song again after this tournament (also, sadface Converge).
Also sorry I don't know why I posted the french traduction here guess that was back when I was learning french through pop song (... translations) and had it in the bank
I've said it before and I'll say it again: 'Thuggin'' is the best rap song since 'Shook Ones (Part II)'. It's one of Madlib's better beats, effortlessly majestic, smooth enough that you can't see the nuts and bolts, and spacious enough to let the rapper breathe, whilst Gibbs just goes absolutely crazy, without ever losing his cool, displaying sheer mastery of flow and rhyme scheme but with so many poignant, real sentiments that it never comes across as robotic, whilst pretty much every couplet is a perfectly constructed quotable in its own right. He's world-weary, frustrated, defiant, triumphant, and better at rapping than pretty much anyone else alive, at least for these four minutes. In terms of hip-hop songs, virtually nothing ever, let alone from the five years this tournament covers, can hold a candle to 'Thuggin''. _________________ 2021 in full effect.
