Now who said that? It seemed pretty obvious that this would be a failure, from the horrific live version of Sweet Jane to the 30 second sample of The View, and then the full 5 minutes of The View...

Well, I do remember a Rolling Stone article praising the album 
But really, it's currently the 96th worst album ever according to RYM. That means that it was even worse than St. Anger

I actually sort of enjoyed the view a bit (ok, mabye enjoyed is too strong a word....), but everything else I've heard from it has been hilariously bad..........
who in all the world though collaborating was a good idea?

I haven`t actually listened to it, but it doesn`t seem that Rolling Stone despises it too much. They gave it a 3/5.
Mind you, SMiLE was an album I thought would a get a 5/5 review  , but it only got a 4.5/5...Ah well. I wonder if P4k will review it.

So I listened to the album, and I kind of liked it in a perverse way. Like a cult film. I can actually see myself going back to this album again before the year is up. 
@40FW: It's funny you go back to This is Spinal Tap, because the album reminded me a lot of that movie and it's almost as if Metallica has become the living embodiment of Tap. Maybe that's why I enjoyed Lulu as much as I did.
