It is NaNoWriMo month this month and I thought it would be fun to see if we could write a BEA novel. It is very simple, each poster reads the post before and then adds to the novel. Slowly but surely the story builds up.

The rules are simple.

No more than 3 sentences per post - ok we have killed this rule now - write as much or as little as you like ๐Ÿ˜„
No double posts (there always has to be someone else inbetween)

I'll make a start:

Mike eyed up the weathered old man across the desk. The old man stank of stale whiskey and a lifetime of living rough. Mike was impatient to get started.

He walked outside, lit a cigarette and looked. Snakeskin on the fence like a tunnel, sinuous in the searing winds which stripped the earth that thirsts under the throbbing burning setting phallus of the sun. He might can see the deluge coming over the fertile hills beyond; it will fill his soul to the banks and erode it for a time.

(yeah, outside its likely a rural setting; this does have something to do with the old man as well as what Michael might be feeling and what he's reluctant to start)

Mike had seen many insidious things in his time but they seemed to often occur in beautiful places. Somehow the atrocity he was here to investigate matched the cruel, unyielding landscape. He threw his cigarette away, only half smoked, knowing he did not have to snuff it himself - this land would see to that.

He went back into the room and slammed the door. The old man stared at him with a questioning look.

'You gonna offer me a drink?' he barked.

He was given a drink, and finished it in one go.
Little did he know, the drink was poisonous, and also explosive.
There was a nuclear explosion and the area was no more.

These thoughts flashed through Mike's mind as he looked at the old man.

'Don't you think you've had enough?' He said.

The old man growled and scratched his head.

'Enough is never enough', the old man replied.
Mike pondered for a minute, wondering if he could make any sense out of that last sentence. Finally discarding it as downright ranting, he ordered two bourbons with chasers, and had a closer look at the old rascal.

"Why you ordering two drinks for, don't you think you've had enough?", asked the old man.
"Well, they're not both for me, one of those is for Bubbles.", replied Mike.
"Mike, you sure I don't know you from somewhere?", enquired the old man.
