Musically interesting matchup from strictly a bass perspective. Marcus Miller is a phenomenal bassist, and Laura Marling's track I fell in love with really hard because it's incredibly unique musically - a harmonizing bassline/dancing with each other like this. I dig his Detroit track of the Renaissance record quite a bit.
This live version is ok (pretty difficult to pull off).
I'm curious what they did the in the studio... can't find anything about it. My ears hear two unique bass tracks.
It makes sense that they could use this Fender Bass VI, which is indeed a bass with six strings, tuned just like a guitar (unlike modern 6 string basses). But idk... I feel like that's not what the studio used, rather a fretless bass and really was two different tracks.
