I have rated and "favourited" a considerable number of tracks and when I looked at the summary at the bottom of the page on the "Bands" table that displays the bands with the highest number of favourite tracks, it displays "Various Artists" as a band.
Tracks do not belong to Various Artists, they belong to bands, although those songs feature on compilations or soundtracks.. I think that this is a reasonable fix to consider.
I hope it doesn't mean too much work.

BEA doesn't currently attribute individual tracks to specific artists. This has kept the site easier to administer (at the expense of more accuracy). Currently, tracks on BEA inherit the album artist, and this particularly stands out for albums by VA as it's not a 'real' artist. It's possible in the future that the site could add the ability for additional artists to be credited on specific tracks, but it would be a big undertaking to back-fill the database so it wouldn't be a quick fix.
