Man, someone needs to sue these guys for false advertising. They say that the album's gonna be bluesy, but I see no trace of Jimmy Page riffs or Muddy Waters vocals anywhere on the entire album. It really isn't different than any other dumb indie folk band, and that's a real shame.

Beautiful vocal harmonies on this, still, I was disappointed, as it contains nothing near the brilliance of "White Winter Hymnal". Needs a few more listens though.

i liked a lot Fleet Foxes, but i was quite disappointed by this one, except the inspired second part if The Shrine/An Arguement. It's a mystery to me why it's N°1 of the year in BEA. i may listen to it again

I think it's a good album, as good as their debut, but the best songs aren't really on the level of White Winter Hymnal, Blue Ridge Mountains, ...
Grown Ocean was my favourite here.

Kinda agree with loveless, equally as good as debut but none of the songs stand out individually as well on this one (even Grown Ocean).

Wait, didn't these guys have "the album of the day" for just two days ago? I like variety.

A very lopsided album in my opinion, its weaker than their debut, but the best tracks- Helplessness Blues, The Shrine/an Argument, Grown Ocean (one of my favourite songs possibly ever) -are all amazing. The problem for me is a find that the great songs are brought down by pointless one's like Battery Kinzie, Lorelai, the Cascades or Blue Spotted Tail.
Its like they are pulling to two directions: one bland and faceless, the other very interesting and exploratory.

These guys really stepped up their game instrumentally for this one. I had no idea they could play this well from just hearing the first album. Props to Sim Sala Bim, since it hasn't been mentioned. Again, wonderful lyrics. More personal this time around.
