Ok, so I wonder, if you could save only ONE SONG from a total music aniquilation, which one would be?? And also imagine that in this post-apocalyptic future no one knows what's music and this song you choose will serve as example to music from that point on (or at least as inspiration or as an important influence).
Also I started a poll with the 10 top rated songs in BEA without repeating an artist, you dont have to choose one of these though. Which one would be yours and why?
After a long time thinking it I think I would choose "A day in the life" by the Beatles. Not only is my favorite song, but I also think is one of the best songs ever made. I love the simplicity of it, the acoustic guitar, soft lennon's voice, Ringo particular drumming (and the weird dynamics it has), the use of an orchestra for a transition, the idea of putting two different songs into one, etc. Also the beatles was kind of a starting point in music and it has turned out alright. 👏
Like A Rolling Stone from the poll, but none of those songs is comparable to Soma by the Strokes :D.
As piece of music in general, every song is just some rubbish noise in front of Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven.
I chose Paranoid Android, one because I think it's one of the greatest songs ever recorded, but also because to someone who's never heard music it has a bit of everything: catchy acoustic guitar chord progressions, aggressive driving electric guitars, atmospheric melodies, altering tempos...
As a different choice I'll go with this, its a personal favourite, and considering nothing sounds like it and I've yet to hear anyone try and pick up where they let off, it would fascinating hearing an entire musical world based of this sound as a starting point
