Man, this matchup is insane, both songs have an irresistible nostalgic quality, high-speed rail to teenageland.
Impossible to pick one, I wish they could both make it through, by far my favourite pair of songs of this round.

Oh wow! Loving this Jane Remover track. Totally my thing!

Hatchie's take on '80s New Wave feels like it's missing something, but it's undeniably catchy. Like it definitely feels like I'm looking at a copy and not the original.

Yeah in going with my necc. Emo selection there were a few more aggressive genres stitching works from JR but this song, either in spite or perhaps because of its rather straightforward instrumental, captivated me from the start, this kind of heartfelt and character-based songwriting with an undertow of malaise that just isn't done this well that often anymore- and also maybe because it eschews some of that aggressive bleep-blip-bloop preciousness of a lot of modern emo. It got a tough matchup, but was still the easy choice.
