Love Chan but it feels really odd to not only choose a cover song but also one to that's been tossed around for four years now. I mean that it's cool, but regardless based purely on the music its still Big Thief.

They attempted to walk it back after very aggressively defending it, yes. But it's not a misunderstanding they just were doing a PR spin. I just cannot be convinced by the platitudes myself and just hasn't been the same listening to them since.
