I guess this is a really classic album but when I want to listen to Cream I just listen to the compilation Heavy Cream because the only songs I want to hear from this album anymore are the four big ones: Sunshine of Your Love, Strange Brew, Tales of Brave Ulysses, and SWLABR. Because to be honest, they sound better right next to their other hits like White Room, Badge, I'm Glad, Crossroads and I Feel Free. Sometimes it's just better to hear all of someone's best songs all in a row. I guess that's what compilations are for.

That's a fair comment. those are four outstanding tracks which I'm going to delve into individual before my listening session.
Thanks for taking the time to post and if you have any thoughts on the individual tracks as I post them I'd love to hear them
You have to admit, this is a great opening track. Maybe even, one of the greatest side one, track ones ever. It’s not groundbreaking as a number of other Cream tracks are, no pushing the boundaries here but it’s a stone-cold classic.
There is an almost hypnotic groove to this track with it’s bluesy / pop crossover vibe.
I’m not a fan of Clapton’s later work but the guitar playing here (& especially the solo) is top notch and this feels like the first time that Clapton attempted vocals on a track (but I’m sure that I’ll be corrected on that if not true). This may be Clapton’s finest guitar solo (Discuss!)
It’s justifiably become one of Creams most definitive tracks
That is a great guitar solo on this song, but I like the ones on White Room and Tales of Brave Ulysses better. And also the one on Let It Rain, as far as his solo album stuff. It's really different than these ones with Cream though.

There’s no doubting that Clapton was / is incredible talented but I feel that he got lazy or maybe bored in his later career and it felt like playing by numbers.
I saw him live about eight years ago supported by Steve Winwood and Stevie Nicks, both of who blew him off the stage. He was so boring. My main reason for going to the gig was to see Winwood so I wasn’t disappointed at all with the gig, just disappointed that someone (Clapton) who has so much talent, just not bringing it to every gig that he plays
As you thought that Strange Brew couldn’t be topped, they did it with the very next track.
Is it hard rock (heavy Blues), is it psychedelia (there’s also elements of jazz interspersed)? Who cares, it’s bloody brilliant. This track benefits greatly from having Bruce back on vocals, alongside Clapton. The guitar solo here is also one of Claptons’ best
It almost feels like, at this point on 1967, Cream and Jimi Hendrix were swapping blows, trying to outdo each other. IMO Hendrix won that particular duel but what a journey.
A seriously influential song as well.
