A thread to focus on the songwriters of some of our favorite songs. I'm going to use this post to list all the songs and songwriters I'm posting in this thread, so I'll be editing this post each time I make a new post. I'm going to start off with a song written by Andrae Crouch.
Through it All - Andrae Crouch
A Wretch Like Me - Lauren Talley

Andrae Crouch has written a number of classic songs including "My Tribute", "The Blood Will Never Lose it's Power", "Take Me Back" "Soon and Very Soon" & the song I'm featuring here, "Through it All". I have always loved this song very much. You can read the lyrics here:

This song has been recorded by a lot of artists. My favorite version is the Gordon Mote version, so that's the one I'm posting here.

I have a shitload of favorite songwriters. Most of them are really obvious choices but what the hell. And most of them are really old, I just think songwriting was much better years ago.
Lennon/McCartney
Jagger/Richards
Joni MItchell
Bob Dylan (but only certain ones)
Carole King
Robert and Dean DeLeo, Eric Kretz (STP)
Bacharach/David
PJ Harvey
James Taylor
Stevie Wonder
Ellie Greenwich/Jeff Barry
David Bowie
Holland/Dozier/Holland

Thanks for participating in my thread. I do enjoy some songs written by Holland / Dozier / Holland, Bacharach / David, & Stevie Wonder, but not all of them. I do like Carole King's You've Got a Friend too.

Thanks for participating in my thread. My favorite singer, Lauren Talley, has only been writing for a few years, so she hasn't written a lot yet and most of those she co-wrote with other people, But there is one song she wrote all by herself. It's called "A Wretch Like Me".
