So, I'm not going to be posting in this thread too much this year, but I welcome BEA to join me throughout the year on my 2025 chart, which will be frequently updated. I've been enjoying digging into 2025, and it's been a rewarding few weeks. We've had some really strong releases so far, and I look forward to what's ahead. I'd like to encourage users to post, discuss, find, listen, recommend, etc, anything they want on my chart this year, and I hope it can spur something mutually beneficial to everyone. If you have something you want me to check out, I will, and if you have any questions about what I have to rec, I'll gladly respond. I'd also like to thank KitchenSink for the recs he's had on his chart, and I hope the feeling is mutual
I'm going to do my best to showcase gems from the year, and all I ask is the same in return.
This is looking great so far! I really need to check out that McPhee. Love to see that Oksana Linde on here, if you liked that one I feel like it'll be worth checking out this one when it drops in a couple of weeks https://shiroishikurek.bandcamp.com/alb...hound-days
I am too lazy to do all the data entry for chart making, but in general I would strongly recommend Konrad Sprenger - Set, Klein - thirteen sense, Sarah Hennies - SOVT, Eev Frances - Sometimes I Forget To Breathe, and Julek ploski - Give Up Channel _________________ endaural hour podcast

Thanks Tap— Shiroishi has a pretty consistent (and frequent) stream of output, usually find him dropping something every 5-6 months. Think he just released an album last week tbh. It's free for download on Bandcamp. I'll keep an eye out for next month's collab though
Going to bookmark the Ploski record. Sounds like an interesting project. I forget exactly why, but I found the Konrad Sprenger record about a month ago and dismissed it. Don't quite remember why (at all )— it'll also be going in the listen-list.
Being said, make a chart — would love to see your picks from the year. And if you have any recs, just shoot a comment on mine. All good.
This was my introduction to Oksana Linde— it's been invaluable how artists who have unreleased material from decades ago can now release it without the financial barriers that existed when it was recorded. The internet might oversaturate us with music, but the opportunities it's allowed have benefitted tonnes of otherwise unknown gems. It's a solid record too, engaging classical-electronic-ambient. (Think I remember reading the recordings are from the late 80s).
And Joe's record is going to throw you for a loop. I think it's something he's wanted to do for some time now. It verges on being more poetry focused than jazz. Really memorable stuff though, and I love the rawness he brings with it. Another jazz highlight from my chart so far is Marshall Allen, who released his debut solo album at 100 (which, now that I type it, sounds like the effort he put into it, but it's his age). Easy rec. Not sure anyone that old's ever even made a jazz record before, let alone a debut. I hope I have that much energy at that age (and the age thing isn't just a gimmick, etc, it's a solid album and well worth a listen).
