You can also explain your reasons and if you prefer, you can also say what the worst decade is in your opinion.

There are books written about this ๐
If I had to pick a single decade to listen to forever it would be the 1960s (and I was born in 1973!). You get the Ellington & Basie big bands still kicking ass. You get many of the bop and post-bop guys like Miles and Monk and Coltrane still at their peaks in the first half of the decade. You get the old blues guys still kicking. You still get some high-quality Sinatra. You get the British Invasion and The Beach Boys. You get Dylan. You get the San Francisco scene. You get Aretha and Dusty.
And you get The Shaggs. That really clinches it.

for me? my gut reaction says it's between the 60s, 80s, 90s, and 00s. upon further review, my favorites from each era is something like this*:
60s: mingus, coltrane, simone, buckley
80s: cocteau twins, talk talk, sonic youth
90s: modest mouse, blonde redhead, sonic youth, portishead, bel canto, pram, bjรถrk, buckley
00s: radiohead, blonde redhead, portishead, deerhoof, modest mouse, sonic youth, bjรถrk, broadcast, pram, spalding
man. 90s and 00s are pretty tight for me, but album-wise, it's probably the 00s.
*going off memory while on my phone. i'm sure i'm forgetting a significant artist or two. _________________ follow me on the bandcamp.

I'm going with the 820s CE, as that was probably the peak decade for Islamic oud music in the Iberian peninsula (Ziryab probably being the finest composer of the era), as well as a high point for Gregorian chant as well as the Byzantine liturgical tradition.
The decade we're in now is also pretty good, since there are some decent shoegaze bands still around. But I'd still have to rank it at #2 behind the 820s โ if it keeps going the way it's been going though, it'll probably take the top slot before it's over.

I don't buy into the idea of objective rating of music, no shade against those that do. For me best and favourite are the same thing, and for most people I'd expect it is whatever they are listening during their formative years, be that from streaming/radio or what their parents/friends/siblings play.
My favourite 'decade is around 2008 - 2018, but I'm generally a fan of music from the early 80s to current stuff, and the way the last five years have gone I wouldn't be surprised to say the 2020s is my favourite in future.

It depends what kind of music you're talking about. For Rock, Pop and Soul I like the '60s and 70s the best, which isn't surprising since I was born in the 1970s and that's when I first started listening to music. To me the only other decade that comes close for Rock music would be the 90s. Ever since then I mostly listen to various kinds of electronic music. Probably the best decade for electronic music would be the '90s, although it's stayed pretty good since then. The 70s and 80s were also good for electronic actually.

For me it's the 70's. I was born in 1958 so I was prime for the influences that sprang up at that time.
It's only in retrospect that you appreciate when something phenomenal is happening. So why the 70's? I was 11 to 21 years old during that period. Isn't that the best time to discover music? If I was born in 1978 I'd probably be saying the 90's. It's all subjective and we are, on the whole, biased towards music from that era. Not exclusively obviously, but predominately I would argue. Having said that,
I still love discovering music from right now as well though whether that's Anna Calvi, Yazz Ahmed, Goat Girl etc. but if I could only listen to music from one decade, it has to be the 70's
Also. there was an unparalleled explosion of creativity, with so many classic albums being created in such a short space of time.
Why is an album a classic? Something never heard before. Black Sabbath created a whole new genre of music in 1970 with the self titled album.
Music that endures. Albums that people discover that were recorded 50 / 60 years ago that a new generations continue to discover, rave about and which create so much joy.
The start of the 70's was also the switching point from the pop era to the rock era. From the Beatles, to Led Zeppelin, from the Kinks to David Bowie.
So that's why I love the 70's but you may well have an equally completing or even better argument for a different decade and for you, you would be right

None, or all. easy answer I know but I sincerely believe this to be right. I know maybe 0.0001% of anything that was released at any given time, for all I know, all the wonders are still out there for me to discover, regardless of when they came out.
