This year seems to be disappearing very quickly, and development on BEA has been pretty relentless throughout. Activity on the site has picked up over the past few weeks, with more members contributing alongside an increase in new registrations. It's encouraging to see momentum building as we approach the traditionally busy year-end period, when the annual round of lists start to appear. Meanwhile, work is continuing on the 2026 roadmap, with several more improvements included in this update and some bigger developments nearing completion behind the scenes.
Filter to show only "Movers & New Entries" within a chart
A new filter has been added to individual chart pages, allowing members to view only entries that have moved or are new since the previous version of a chart. This should be useful for larger charts, providing a quick way to see what's changed without having to browse through the entire chart, and completes another item on the 2026 roadmap.
BEA links in chart notes
The Insert BEA Link functionality has now been extended to chart notes, allowing members to link directly to other pages on BEA from their charts.
Comment previews
A 'preview' button has been added to the comment editing toolbar, allowing comments containing BBCode to be previewed before they are saved.
Clearer presentation of artist aliases and variations
Following a suggestion received via PM, artist aliases and variations are now presented more clearly on artist pages. It's also now possible to filter artist bestographies by variation or child artist directly from any related artist page (where aliases or variations exist).
Merging of admin and edit options on chart pages
The chart editing and admin options have been combined to make the interface more consistent and easier to navigate. For your own charts, the admin option is now accessible from within the chart editor. For other members' charts, the edit icon now links directly to the chart admin page, where you can suggest a chart for promotion or report a potential issue.
Twitter/X
BEA has now permanently stopped posting to its X account, but will continue posting on Bluesky and Facebook. This decision has been under consideration for some time, given the increasingly controversial nature of the platform and their API costs. Sorry to anyone who follows BEA on X, and hopefully you'll join us on Bluesky or Facebook instead.
Album art
A lot of behind-the-scenes work is taking place to improve how album artwork is stored and delivered across the site. Most of these changes should be invisible, although you might occasionally notice an album cover not displaying correctly or taking longer than usual to load during the migration. Any issues should be temporary, but apologies in advance for any inconvenience, and thanks for your patience while this housekeeping is carried out.

Made the active and inactive states of the Collected, Listened and Ignored buttons clearer (apologies for issues introduced in the previous update)
Fixed an issue where deleted items in moderation history displayed "No album/artist found" instead of their original titles
Fixed missing cross icons for unmoderated chart entries
Fixed an issue with caching of country chart year/decade CSV downloads
Fixed an issue where artists with no chart appearances were missing from the A to Z index
Improved the presentation of tooltips and help text across the site
Fixed comment reaction buttons not appearing as disabled when logged out
Added browser "last seen" information to notification history, making it easier to identify individual browsers
Fixed 'sort by random' in artist bestographies
Fixed an issue where 'reaction' appeared twice on the latest activities page, rather than distinguishing between comment and forum post reactions
Fixed comment reaction notifications not being delivered
Various performance improvements, Dark Mode refinements and numerous other tweaks and fixes
Coming up
Behind the scenes, work is progressing on improvements to the experience for new members, including clearer level progression and smaller introductory achievements to help people get started and encourage participation. These changes should become more visible over the next few updates as the functionality is gradually rolled out.
Alongside this, a more extensive achievement system is being developed for existing members, introducing new goals to work towards and recognising different types of contributions beyond the current points and levels system. The aim is to make participation more rewarding, whether you've just joined BEA or have been contributing for years.
Also, keep an eye out for a new BEA Android app, which will hopefully be available on the Google Play Store before Christmas (and will be free to use). An iOS app is also planned for 2027.

Yeah when I go on a user's rating/listened/collection area, if I click Yes to any of them, it just shows all ratings, both Yes and No
E.g. when I click on Yes to my 134 rated soundtracks, it just shows all my 7.9k rated albums. It's actually the case with all of the buttons. _________________ My Top 100 :
