OK, I will try this again...the assumption for this topic is that it is a song that probably most people haven't heard. It would be something that has gone under the radar, lost in time or because of the segmentation of the radio markets, just hasn't been heard? ...A song that you would want to turn people on to... For me that could be:

Ramon, Laurie Anderson
Black Pearl, Sonny Charles
Cactus Tree or Michael from Mountains, Joni Mitchell
Sleep Song, Graham Nash
Norman Bates

I depends who the listener is. A lot of Guided by Voices songs though. I have thought so many of their songs are classic pop/rock songs, and would be hits if it wasn't for their quirkiness.

Also, off the top of my head:

Watch the Sunrise--Big Star
A House is Not a Motel-- Love
The Bleeding Heart Show--The New Pornographers
Underwater Moonlight--The Soft Boys
Whiskey Bottle--Uncle Tupelo
Carry the Zero--Built to Spill
Zimbabwe--Bob Marley and the Wailers

Really, I could go on and on...

Dancing by John Martyn

Link

This song is so beautiful it makes me cry. John Martyn is not known enough. Blatant scandal.
