I normally don't like covers ( especially nowadays, see: common who sampled mr blue sky and then raped it)....
But somethimes they are awesome:

Jimi hendrix: hey joe, all allong the watchtower
The white stripes: Jolene
Rodrigo y gabriella: each song they cover
Nirvana: you know wich songs I am talking about Smile
