Being relatively new on this forum, I have browsed around other people's album charts.
I have noticed that some people choose to include "best of" albums in the charts, and I've also noticed other people criticising them about it.
Of course everybody can do anything they like with their own charts, but I do agree that this thing should be kind of "frowned upon".
My question is what's the case with live albums? and further more what's the deal with remix albums? Is there a general consensus about it?
Again I'm guessing there is no "website policy", but I just want to hear how YOU guys feel about this.
Is it "legitimate" to include a remix and/or live album in one's album chart?

Have whatever you like in a chart so long as you like it and it is an album

I don't really have any judgments on it

I agree, do what thou wilt with your chart, should be the whole of the law.

But as far as far as my personal opinion and or standards I went with

It is "legitimate" to include live albums in one's album charts but not remix albums

I can't see how ANYBODY could think live albums should not be included in charts. Sure, I can understand compilations and remix albums, but live albums can certainly be included.

That said, I have this rule for my chart: Include a compilation only if the artist never released an album, which could be because they lived in the '30s/'40s (I do have a '40s album on my chart, though, which is not a compilation or anything), or if the compilation is significantly better than ALL of the artists' albums (I generally don't like compilations that much, so this one is rare, i. e. I didn't like Muddy Waters' Anthology better than Newport 1960, or The Beatles' 1 better than any of their studio albums, but I do think Chuck Berry's compilations are better than his 18 studio albums).

Yup, there should be no restriction on what you should include in your charts.

Confused

EDIT: Oh wait, you were talking about the "no restriction on what should be included" thing, right? Then I understand. Laughing
