Has anyone with over 1000 albums ever tried to rank their collection?
Just wondering if i'm alone in the universe.
i have around 4k and am trying to do this (again. I actually had all my albums ranked but then my hard-drive crashed and i didn't keep a backup, so i'm starting from scratch...which is actually good since the previous collection-wide ranking was growing inaccurate over time.) _________________ fav artists NOW | ALL-TIME favs | i listen 2 more music than u so u don't have 2!

I'm working on it. Currently there are 3,737 albums in my collection. I have gone through, rated and ranked 1,111 this far. Been working on it two and a half years.

i hope to be done within a year. only have 228 ranked so far. right now i'm working through a way of putting all 3500-to-4000-ish albums into a spreadsheet ordered by year and album title. i'm almost done with that challenge. Then it's a "simple" matter of ranking albums for every year. Cake, right? _________________ fav artists NOW | ALL-TIME favs | i listen 2 more music than u so u don't have 2!

Sure, except it takes 45 mins to an hour for each one of them to find out what's on there. And in most cases it requires more than one listen. Putting them into a spreadsheet I can do in a couple days.
I have all of my albums (& songs) in a spreadsheet, and rated/ranked (to some extent, though it is constantly changing), but I only own just over 300, and I've stopped buying CDs over the past few years since I've been moving around a lot and don't have the space, nor access to a great second-hand shop.
Since joining BEA, though, I've added albums I don't own to my spreadsheet (including ones I have acquired digitally or those I've listened to online), and I'm 231/721 so far (re-rating all of my previous albums).
So, while I may hit 1000 albums rated/ranked, and those rankings may be dubious, I'm not sure if I will ever own 1000 albums.
I have about 600. There's probably twice that amount that I'd buy, and another 1000 that I'm interested in. Sadly, I have a mortgage etc... to pay for. ๐จ
Give it time. I'll get there.

I've only heard about 1,000 albums...And I don't even think I've ranked my top 50 properly
I have 927 in my collection currently, and have heard more than what I own. But I agree with Hayden, I can't even rank the ones I know I love and have heard a million times. I could probably rate the 927, but would never be satisfied with my rankings because a objective look at music always conflicts with my subjective.
