I think that the idea of automatically checking your topic title and warning you if there have been similarly titled topics in the past is a great idea BUT how easy is it to implement?
I spent 15 minutes trying to figure out why I couldn't post a new topic. And then I found that it was blocked because it contained WORDS that were used before.
The word was "Cool". It wouldn't allow me to post the topic because someone in the past had posted somthing also containing the word "cool" in its title.
I changed it to "Cute". No, again I wasn't allowed to post.
I tried "Dangerous". Again "no".
What can be done?
I suggest that in this case you simply give the message "Something with a similar message has been posted before. Please check the following subjects and IF you are certain that your post is completely different, press OVERIDE"
Or something like it.
You know what I mean...
It's just to let people know there are similar topics, and *optionally* to post in those instead. You can still scroll down and click submit to post your new topic anyway. I'll update the wording on that page to make it a bit clearer.
