so this thread is dedicated to suggesting music for any given situation anyone is going through in a relationship, whether it be the happiest of times or the worst of times. Relationships can make us feel like we could conquer worlds or they can make us feel like we should commit suicide (hopefully not), and this thread can be dedicated to each. Music can help us through these situations and in fact characterize these situations, so I felt like making a thread for it might be useful... let's see

so, currently I'm going through a break up of a relationship that has lasted for three and a half years. I'm the one breaking it off, but it still feels shitty (and there's a lot of cheating involved, which includes nurses (for the Hospice in the list below)). Any suggestions for albums or songs that would compliment the ones posted (which reflect my mood) would be appreciated...

Joanna Newsom-'Good Intentions Paving Company'
Spiritualized-Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space
Animal Collective-'Cuckoo Cuckoo'
Antlers-Hospice
Broken Social Scene-You Forgot It In People
Pink Floyd- 'Wish You Were Here'
Talk Talk-'New Grass'

I'm just gonna point out the obvious ones...

Weezer-Pinkerton ("Across the Sea" hit a bit too close to home about an Asian girl I was obsessed with. I wasn't nearly asperverted about it as Rivers, Though)

The White. Stripes-White Blood Cells

Avril Lavigne-Goodbye Lullaby

Bob Dylan-Blood on the Tracks

Beach Boys-Pet Sounds

Also, Purp, I'm really sorry about what happened. It must have really hurt to have ended a relationship that lasted that long Sad

Read my mind.

More specifically, if we're talking about what's currently going on in my own love life...

Sad

Here's a very indie mix-CD I made a few years ago, childishly entitled Songs for Dreams of Love and Sorrow (lol) :

Part 1
1 - The Killing Moon - Echo and The Bunnymen (obviously, a favourite)
2 - Day Is Done - Nick Drake
3 - Chicago - Sufjan Stevens
4 - Phantom Limb - The Shins
5 - Skeleton Key - Margot and the Nuclear So and So's
6 - Several Arrows Later - Matt Pond PA
7 - Fox in the Snow - Belle and Sebastian
8 - The Bleeding Heart Show - The New Pornographers
9 - Black Mirror - Arcade Fire

Interval
10 - The Last Race - Jack Nitzsche

Part 2
11 - My Little Underground - The Jesus and Mary Chain
12 - Novocaïne for the Soul - Eels
13 - Holes - Mercury Rev
14 - Gold Day - Sparklehorse
15 - Fake Palindromes - Andrew Bird
16 - Hoppipolla - Sigur Ros
17 - The Engine Driver - The Decemberists
18 - Jesus, etc. - Wilco
19 - Nocturnal Me - Echo and The Bunnymen

It's quite coherent and makes a good listen. Hope you enjoy it !

wow, that fucking sucks. Although, are you more sad then angry or vise versa? I'll give you some albums to listen to when I find out.
