Recently I have discovered some of Radiohead's old b-sides, and they're great in their own right. It got me thinking: What are the greatest b-sides in history? Usually, they're throwaways, but sometimes they can be great too.

Post away!

Buying New Soul, Porcupine Tree. Easily. In fact all of Porcupine Tree's B-sides (that I've heard) are completely album-worthy; their exclusion is based on the album's flow/theme, not on quality. By the way, did these happen to be Hail to the Thief B-sides? Because those are awesome.

It's probably obvious but Talk Show Host win it for me. Its just great. I dont know if its considered a b side or not but Eye' by Smashing Pumpkins is awesome too, as well as Love will tear us apart (again not sure if it was considered a B side or not

Correct, pretty much. Stairway was released as a promo single in 1972 with a stereo version on the A-side and a mono version on the B-side, but was never officially issued as a single (except in the Philippines).

Also:

Be-Bop-A-Lula was released as an A-side in 1956
Into the Groove was released as an A-side in 1985
Dear God was released as an A-side in 1987
Groove Is in the Heart was released as an A-side in 1990
Computer Love was released as an A-side in 1981
How Soon is Now? was originally a B-side (in 1984) but was re-released as an A-side in 1985.

Unchained Melody, I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry, and nearly every Beatles B-side were B-sides though.
