From time to time I'll go through mini-phases of only listening to a particular genre (usually lasts around a week). Lately, I've had an odd combination of those phases and it has lasted quite a while.
For the past few weeks, I've listened to hardly anything except for Electronic, Singer/Songwriter, and Death Metal. Although, the electronic part has slowly been decreasing.
Current favorites from those respective genres include: Black Noise by Pantha du Prince, On the Beach by Neil Young, and Those Once Loyal by Bolt Thrower. Just in case you people cared ๐Ÿ˜œ

So, I ask the populous of BEA. What genre(s) are you stuck in?
And maybe you are stuck in one of the ones that I'm in! In that case don't hesitate to throw some awesome recommendations my way!

How is Singer/Songwriter a genre? Anyway, I've been indulged in Industrial/Noise/Power Electronics the past 2 - 3 weeks.

For at least 1,5 years Prog Rock has filled much of my musical taste, since I've tried to run from cheap mainstream stuff that, mostly but not all, are boring. But, other genres such as Folk, New Age, Jazz Fusion, and other sidestreams are very welcomed

I've been listening to a lot of ambient albums recently, mainly to help settle the baby after her feeds. Albums currently on heavy rotation are

Air - Premiers Symptomes/Moon Safari
Ulrich Schnauss - A Strangely Isolated Place
The KLF - Chill Out
Boards of Canada - In A Beautiful Place Out In The Country EP
Nicolas Jaar - Space Is Only Noise
The Orb - U.F.Orb (including the 40 minute 'Blue Room')

And when I'm not trying to settle the baby, I'm hammering the likes of

Trentemรธller - The Last Resort (downbeat minimal electro)
The Cinematic Orchestra - Motion (like a cross between Endtroducing and Bitches Brew)
Mr Scruff - Keep It Unreal (similar to Lemon Jelly's upbeat take on dance music)

So yeah, rock is well and truly dead and buried for me at the moment

Funnily enough, after obsessively listening to a single genre (or, should I say timespan) for about six months or so, I've now started to simply listen to all those big, famous albums I haven't gotten around to yet. Plus un-heard albums by artists that I already consider myself a fan of. Or just random albums that seem interesting for some reason.

It's a liberating experience somehow. I feel... FREE! ๐Ÿ˜
