A large strong personality, singer and drummer (also other instruments) is gone. He has done in recent times of a reasonably good albums such as Electric Dirt.
Levon said that he has a privilege to be the best location in the concert, the drummer. Look at how the emotion he sings The Band's famous song "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down", Martin Scorsese's fabulous music documentary "The Last Waltz". Sad news. This guy was one of the greatest drummers of all-time and, it would appear, a great man too. The album 'The Band' stands as one of rock's all-time masterpieces. It's one of those records, alongside albums like Astral Weeks, If I Could Only Remember My Name and Exile On Main Sreet, that ought to be in everybody's top 100 list. I feel really upset that this is another great musician we have lost.
