These are the bands that really matter, The Beatles they established the rock band over solo type performers and started the British Invasion. the Rolling Stones, the Animals, the Kinks, and the Yardbirds. Then the Byrds, Dylan, Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, King Crimson, The Velvet Underground and Black Sabbath.
Everything else is a spin-off of those bands.
