So here we all are, a bunch of music geeks tinkering with our charts, however how does the website account for this? If I go in and tinker with my chart does that change the points calculated for the overall chart, immediately, daily, weekly? How does that work. I assume there is an aggrigator implanted in the site that does the math because with all of us making regular changes it would be pretty tiresome to keep up with manually.

Quick explanation: currently, the stats for the overall chart (and the other aggregations such as for average ratings, year and decade etc) are computed on the hour and every half hour. So, if you add (or update) a chart at 12:45pm, the updated overall chart (and other aggregated stats) would be updated to reflect the updated chart at 1pm.
If a new album is added that is not already on the site, it can take a bit longer to compute the year and decade statistics as new albums need to be manually verified that they really exist (some people post singles or other albums that cannot be verified) and the year of release also has to be determined.
