I saw Richard Pryor the other night on tv. Like Chris Rock, 90% of his routine seems to revolve around black/white issues in America. Boring. _________________ no fat chicks

I'm not that familiar with Pryor's work, but I agree about Chris Rock. Most of his act is based on stereotypes and generalizations: white people do this, black people do that, women do this. There's a difference between comedy about racism and racist comedy. Rock is sometimes effective at the former, but too often drifts into territory of the latter. He is a smart guy, and from time to time he does say some pretty interesting stuff about race, but he's also guilty of perpetuating stereotypes.
Comedy about race is the way comedy about George Bush was over the last few years. There are millions of people making the same joke. Most of it is unoriginal, trite, and boring.

The Lenny Bruce Originals Vol. 1
this man is easily the most intelligent, irreverent, witty, free-form comedian I've ever heard. simply put, he's a nut. after I familiarized myself with his work I realized how much other comedians, namely Woody Allen & George Carlin, were doing a shameless Lenny Bruce impression. a word of warning: don't expect typical comedic delivery of jokes and punch-lines, Bruce's style is very different from most comedians and it can be frustrating at first.

Amen to that. I actually just finished watching a film with Pryor in it and I have to say he's a surprisingly good actor. _________________ no fat chicks

Bo Burnham - Bo Burnham
Bo Burnham has witty lyrics and great puns, he is not really a comedian.
He is only 18 and he is famous from youtube.

I think Bill Cosby is a genius. The Cosby show is 30+ years old and it's still funny. Most older humor, with the possible exception of the Three Stooges and Marx Brothers, just isn't funny out of its time.
You can tell quality by how long it lasts
Lenny Bruce is incredible, too. _________________ "I'm so ugly but that's OK cause so are you"

Spot on, maxxy. He was a brilliant stand-up, and one of the few comedians who didn't have to shock his audience with vulgar language and subject matter. "Bill Cosby: Himself" is amazing. His humor has broad-appeal but it's also very smart, and that's something very few artists in any medium can pull off.
On a side note, he went to my high school (Central High, Philadelphia, PA). He came to my school doing my senior year, did some stand-up, and gave a little motivation speech to the seniors. For some reason, he was accompanied by Kenny Mayne from Sportscenter. I still have no idea why the hell Kenny Mayne would tag along with Bill Cosby to visit his old high school.

Check this one out:
I've seen it a dozen times and still it's amazing to me.
I'm Telling You for the Last Time by Jerry Seinfeld
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWRmi7JKvjw
Starts at 4 minutes or so. It got portuguese (I think) subtitles.
Have fun with it
