About world album of the day: The BestEverAlbums.com world album of the day is the album appearing most prominently in member charts in the previous 24 hours, but not including albums from Australia, Canada, Ireland, United Kingdom or United States. If an album has previously been selected within a x day period, the next highest album is picked instead (and so on) to ensure a bit of variety.
I never could stand Abba, and I honestly cannot understand today's fashion of rehabilitating them as "more than just a pop band". "Knowing Me, Knowing You" is acceptable, the rest I really can't listen to.
There is a difference between 'fun' and 'insultingly simplistic'. Just IMO, but FUN albums consist of Pop Tatari, Trout Mask Replica, Half Machine Lip Moves, Horses, and The Modern Dance, probably among others I haven't heard or thought of at the moment. None of them needed a blatant pop formula to accomplish catchiness and ... 'fun'...ness. It's all in the creativity, and ABBA severely lacks it. ...in my opinion.
ABBA could of just been another forgettable european pop act.
Luckily for them, they had Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, probbly one of the better pop songwriting duos. Because of this, thye were able to become one of the best, if not the best, pop groups of the 70's.
