... well no, not the middle of space (no such thing) just one of countless massive spaces between two stars. As to not appear too vague lets say... at least 1 or 2 lights years from the nearest star. You would die obviously so for the sake of argument you are always completely alive and despite being in space, your senses are all completely intact as if you are standing somewhere on Earth. So you're in the of a vacuum of space, very much alive, senses same as Earth etc.

Now if you were to put your hand out in front of you (nevermind if you can or can't move it, let's pretend you can) how much would you be able to see? Would your hand appear pitch black or just a little darker? While everything around you is sparkling more than the clearest night out in the countryside, would you be able to see next to nothing of you? If someone was floating with you, would they appear as a black silletto blocking out some hundred million stars? Does anyone see where I am coming from with this? I only thought about it yesterday and it's been bugging me ever since. 😲

Mmm. I don't really know, but I'd think you could see yourself, but with really, REALLY low brightness, almost, but not quite, black. I mean, some light must arrive at your position from the countless (but distant) stars. But I'm no physic, so I'm just guessing.

Our planet is apparently 0.00001585 light years away from our sun and is our only true light source.
The closest star to us is 4.243 light years away and during the night provides us with no form of light.

I'm no scientist, but I'd say 1 or 2 light years away from the stars you probably wouldn't be able to see your hand because the light would have spread over such a space in the length that the amount of light reflected of from you into your eye is probably minimal if anything at all.

This is just a wild ramble though.

So you would be like a shadow in space? 😲 Everything around you would appear very bright (countless stars and galaxies in view) but you wouldn't be able to see yourself?

Imagine what that would feel like 😲 It would be a very strange feeling!
