It's not even close. With the exception of Psychocandy, '85 is pretty much a joke to me. The majority of it is like all the music that was on MTV when I was growing up and now consider, embarrassing much like someone who grew up in the 70's thinks of bell bottoms now. Foreigner? Really?!! Talk about throwing the match. Wait. Is that part of your long-term strategy?

Sorry if that seemed personal. It's just my opinion and personal taste, of course.

Fair enough. This is the second attempt at making a decent team for a matchup and first for 1985. I have noticed that singles that are too pop-orientated are frown upon at times.
However Nail is a great industrial album for those who don't like industrial music.
I will listen to Nail before I decide, but I'm leaning heavily towards 1980. Sound Affects is The Jam's best album, Gabriel III is very good and Colossal Youth is a percy. Seventeen Seconds is mediocre (by The Cure's standards), but still better than Songs From The Big Chair and Love. West End Girls and Psychocandy are great choices though. If Nail is stunning it might get my vote.

I think when you're planning your team, you have to consider the BEA voters, and especially the "coolness" factor. With that in mind, a couple of your choices for this line up seem risky. I could be wrong though. But to prove my point, especially when it comes to the 80's teams, look at Eggman's last line up for '84. I'm pretty sure that's the worst loss anyone has taken in the tournament so far. I think there's a lesson to be learned there.
I'm not sure about the popularity of industrial music on here. But I know I don't care for it.

I didn't care for it either until I keep listening to Foetus' work. Mixes so many genres, you latch onto different aspects of each song. Some will grate, some will please, overall it will mess with you.
I think a full album stream is on youtube somewhere.
