Oh, and if some don't know them, dEUS are from Belgium (sorry if you already knew this, I don't know how popular they are out of France at all). This is their best LP, out of a very entertaining discography. You might also try The Ideal Crash for instance, some argue it's their best.

I always felt Damon Albarn (stole, borrowed, was inspired by) the riff here when he wrote Song 2.

There's all sorts of different possible origins for this riff. Seeing that Albarn was mostly into American indie stuff at the time, I figured it could be from Jon Spencer's "Wail" (at 2'00 on this video):
