Everytime I listen it just becomes more and more magical

Can anyone recommend something similar? I've heard Kind Of Blue which I think is fairly bland and I've got Bitches Brew but haven't listened properly yet..

You should definitely get the Complete In a Silent Way Sessions. Everything on there is fantastic.

joannajewsom's recommendation is good. The Complete In a Silent Way Sessions is a three-disc box set which includes the unedited recordings used to produce the original album, In a Silent Way as originally edited, and additional tracks.

If you want something else in a similar style by Miles Davis try Filles de Kilimanjaro. It and the original In a Silent Way were both released in 1969.

"Kind of Blue" bland? Wow, you really haven't listened to it.

Other albums by him: Birth of the Cool, Miles Smiles, Round About Midnight
Sonny Rollins' Saxophone Colossus is a classic, if you don't already have it. Not quite the same, more upbeat, but still good.

thanks guys, got the complete sessions.. i just love that warm, ambient feel with the electric piano and all those little embellishments.. seems hard to come by for some reason

kind of blue just sounds like generic late night coffee bar jazz to me.. i have listened 3 or 4 times, so i won't apologize for that 😜

Here's some other great Fusion (genre of In a Silent Way) albums:

Herbie Hancock - Head Hunters
Miles Davis - On the Corner
Weather Report - Weather Report
Weather Report - I Sing the Body Electric
Return to Forever - Light as a Feather
Mahavishnu Orchestra - The Inner Mounting Flame
Mahavishnu Orchestra - Birds of Fire

Also if you don't like Kind of Blue i doubt you'll like maxxy's suggestion of Saxophone Colossus. Saxophone Colossus is Hard Bop/Post-Bop which is far off from the Fusion/Avant-Garde of In a Silent Way. Both great works but very different
