iTunes 11 is a pain in the arse.
First off, I hate the new artist view, and you can't sort the songs view by artist/year anymore. Also, the album art is gone for songs view, and in album view, you can't sort by anything you can in songs view. They divided the functionality, and anyone who wants all of it has to swap back and forth for no good reason!
For anyone with a large music library, like ALL of us here, the customizability of the sorting function is vital. And the album art is key to remembering albums - when you own over 250 of them (okay, so I don't have too many, but I've only been listening to music for all of 5 years) the visual is more memorable than the name. It's not like you bother to read the name of each album when looking through your cd or vinyl collection - hell, many albums don't even have the title on the cover. And don't get me started on playlists - on them, you don't even have the ability to show the album art at all!
But I digress. Getting Apple to change the software is futile. I guess it's time to look into Decibel - better quality sound for audiophiles anyway. But I've always liked iTunes for it's interface, and after changing that, I guess I have to switch.

iTunes is pretty useless in general...
I use 9. something... But I've heard the latest 2 updates are worse, so I'll stick with the one I have _________________ Doubles & Conch

If anyone knows where to download the old version (iTunes 10.7) please tell me! Or if you know any similar alternatives that run well on mac (a.k.a. not songbird) please tell me!
Thank you! _________________ Please feel free to throw album suggestions my way.

agree, it's crap. I've been ripping some of my CD collection into my library today in the new version of iTunes, and I can't find the identify duplicates feature (so I can't see if I'm re-importing stuff that's already there). Apple seem to have completely removed it from the main menu. I don't know why I'm persisting with using iTunes, except that it's convenient for the devices that I use, and I'm too lazy to invest the effort in changing.

iTunes 11 is pretty awful.
You can download iTunes 10.7 here in 32bit:
http://filehippo.com/download_itunes_32/13258/
Or here in 64 bit:
http://filehippo.com/download_itunes_64/13259/
BUT iTunes processes your iTunes library file and makes it only useable on the latest version of iTunes once you open it - meaning you have to start from fresh (importing all your music) or getting a recovered library file.
Fortunatly iTunes makes a backup or your library file just before it updates to 11.
If you go to your music folder, then open the iTunes folder you'll find your library file called "iTunes Library.itl" either delete this or rename it to make a backup. Then there will be a folder called "Previous iTunes Libraries", open that and grab the one named with the latest date. Copy and paste that into your root iTunes folder and rename it "iTunes Library.itl"
Then you can install 10.7 and run and you're good to go. You will however lose any changes in your library you've made since updating.
On a side note, it's about time we got a decent alternative music player. Winamp is ugly as sin and isn't user friendly at all, and Zune is all looks but has very little functionality.
There's also SongBird and MediaMonkey, but they just feel like spreadsheets sometimes.
EDIT: Just realized you said you use Mac, so those downloads won't work. Not sure where a Mac download of 10.7 is, but I'm sure a quick google will bring it up, then the same applies.

Never used itunes myself. At home I either don't listen to music or listen to it on youtube(over 500 favorites all music). I listen to my CD's in the car. once I get a CD player that works(my current one isn't functioning well), I won't need youtube at all. With F.Y.E 5 minutes away at the mall, I can get access to a lot of music.
