If you could get a original copy/issue of an album in vinyl what would it would be?
I was at a thrift store today (an unusual outing for me) and found my #2 album for a buck, The dark side of the moon. Only problrm was that the actual record was missing. But i scored Houses of the holy, strangers in the night and the doors (all of which were a dollar each).
Anyway my first pick would be fantasia, (just look at my chart).
Tough question. It would have to be something rare and out of print. Something of which there are only 10 copies, and us 10 owners would meet up once a year to have a barbecue and talk about how special we are.
Prefer the sound of CDs. CDs have a greater dynamic range (144 dB for 24-bit , 126 dB for 21-bit, 120 dB for 20-bit and 96 dB for 16-bit). Compare that to analog cassette tapes with a dynamic range of 60 to 70 dB, analog FM broadcasts rarely exceeding 50 dB and direct-cut vinyl records which may surpass 70 dB at times.
The frequency response for a conventional LP player might be 30 Hz - 20 kHz +/- 3 dB. In comparison, the CD system offers a frequency response of 20 Hz โ 20 kHz ยฑ 0.5 dB, with a superior dynamic range over the entire audible frequency spectrum.
With vinyl records, there will be some loss in fidelity on each playing of the disc!
