Here's a quick size guide I whipped up. 80px being what we have now.
I think 80px is about the right size, I don't think enough detail is lost for it to be enlarged to much.

I disagree. IGN has big avatars and the forums look fine to me. RYM has no avatars on the forums and it looks bland. I'd resize it by only an extra 10x10, though. 20x20 max.

yeah, the forum avatars. and based on puncture's pic, i'd say between 100-150 pixels?
