If you actually know something about music, then GH won't affect you at all.
It just annoys me that so many people only listen to music on guitar hero. That's not even the best music out there.

Example: Lots of people think Herman Lee is the best guitarist ever just because TTFF is so hard and fast (no sex jokes please). He is amazingly fast but he's not the best ever.

I don't really think that it matters much the people who want to listen to bad music will listen to bad music whether or not GH exists.
The the only thing that bugs me is when a good band like The Stone Roses is put in. Obviously they are not the same type of music as the rest of the bands so these fake metal-heads who play to guitar hero don't like them and give them a bad name. Let Foghat and Pat Benatar be and in guitar and leave Stone Roses alone.

I don't know what songs are on those games, so I can't answer on that. But I do have this opinion. If these people would spend the same time and money learning to play an actual guitar and not playing a modern game of Simon with a guitar controller, they would have an actual skill instead of wasting their damn time.

I wish to applaud you Maxxy, for ending your GH addiction and I, too, find those who brag about their GH skills (but can't play real guitar) annoying.

However, GH is still a solid videogame franchise and the 4th one looks promising, especially with the option to create your own songs.

And for those who only listen to GH music, that's their own loss.

I've been playing Guitar Hero, and now Rock Band since inception, they are loose, fun games for those without the time, or talent to learn an instument, not to mention it allows several people to play music in a way together.

It's a wonderful party game, like karaoke, but with more involvement from others, and has actuall increased interest in music, some people may never have found. Internet downloads of the songs regularly increase in popularity in the weeks after they release on the games.

I am not musically challenged, i have 1400 cd's about 500 albums, and about a TB of music on the pc. I also own a guitar and bass, but it is a lot of fun to get my wife, or firends over and have them participate in some way with music i enjoy on rock band, I.E. Pixies, Stevie Ray Vaughan, AC/DC, and with a dedicated Beatles game coming out this year all the better.

As for metal heads hating the Stone Roses some of them are going to hate them without their inclusion in GH or RB, big deal. If it turns one more kid onto something different, all the better.
