I’ll treat you like a Queen
I’ll give you strawberries and cream
And then your friends will all go green
For my lasagne
that's some goddamn lyrical poetry right there^
other favorites of mine include:
Slowly walking down the hall
faster than a cannonball
Or:
I’ll take my car
And drive real far
Or even better:
When you’re happy and you’re feeling fine
Then you’ll know it’s the right time
It’s the right time
To shake along with me!
wait didn't hey plagiarize that shit from the hokey-pokey or something? Eh Doesn't matter, it's probably just too brilliant for our puny minds to comprehend. So anyway, what're your guys' "favorite" works of fine art by those wonderful Gallaghers? I know there's just so much to choose from

They're lyrics are shite, but their debut album is dope.

You seem to be under the impression that simple lyrics automatically equals bad lyrics. Their lyrics may be nothing special, but they hardly detract from the music.

Also, this verse is fucking brilliant. Who else would've thought to end that with lasagna? Seriously, bro.

honestly the lyrics tend to be so bad that they keep me from being able to take the music seriously. But hey I liked their first two albums. Still, love poking fun at them

"These are crazy days but they make me shine
Time keeps rolling by" (All Around the World)
"Cos you see me I've got my magic pie
Think of me, yeah that was me I was that passer by
I've been and now I've gone" (Magic Pie)
^Epic lyrics. I'm sure that there's some sort of metaphor behind "the magic pie". It can't be something about drugs. They were totally clean during that period, right?
"Stand by me...nobody knows the way it's gonna be" (Stand By Me)
"Talking to the songbird yesterday
Flew me to a past not far away
She's a little pirate in my mind
Singing songs of love to pass the time" (Songbird)
I don't mind their lyrics, some of them are even great, I think. "Little James" has some really cringeworthy lyrics though, which really distract from the music:
"live for your toys
even though they make noise
have you ever played with plasticine
even tried a trampoline" _________________ "The Beatles, the greatest band known to mankind." - Bismah Mughal

Digsy's Dinner's lyrics are somewhat cheesy, I'll give you that, but NG, at least in his prime, was a great lyricist. Live Forever, Supersonic, Cigarettes And Alcohol (though it does not excite me that much musically) and Cast No Shadow especially are goddamn awesome regarding this aspect. And though I haven't heard Pablo Honey yet, I'll take any of their first two albums over anything from Radiohead's discography any day of the week, just to compare the output of bands established during the beloved '90s. I don't think this last statement will increase my popularity though, most likely the opposite

I agree. Definitely Maybe >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Anything by Radiohead. And has some damn good lyrics, at that (Digsy's Dinner's lyrics are very over the top, yes, but I frankly think it works).

She's got a brother
We don't get on with one another
But I quite fancy her mother
And I think that she likes me
She's got a cousin
In fact she's got 'bout a dozen
She's got one in the oven
But it's nothing to do with me
Yeah, ou can't really defend that.

Lol. Honestly, I think people get their panties in a bunch over lyrics a lot more than they need to. Great lyrics can make great music even better, and horrible lyrics can make horrible music even worse, but I've never seen great lyrics save horrible music, nor have I seen horrible lyrics ruin great music. But maybe that's just me.

In this case I think it brings average music down into the meh-bad range.
