Post here the meaning of your favorite bands or just the ones you know 😉
here's some i found in an article i read recently:
The Beatles : a mix between 2 words : beetle + beat
Joy Division : a reference to the group of jewish women forced to be the prostitute of the concentration camps.
Depeche Mode : it was the name of at the time a famous magazine and Martin Gore liked how those two words sounded.

The Brian Jonestown Massacre is a mix between the name of The Rolling Stones' founder and guitarist Brian Jones and a mass cult suicide in Jonestown, Guyana.
The Velvet Underground was taken from the name of a book by Michael Leigh about the secret sexual subculture of the early 1960s.
The Black Angels was taken from the name of a song by the Velvet Underground "The Black Angel's Death Song"

Radiohead : it is derived from the song of 'Talking Heads'.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience : it's because Jimi Hendrix is in this band lol
The Band : it's because it a band lol
The Clash : it's because they want to clash people lol
Why? : because fuck you, that's why lol

Beatles - their name also was a play on Buddy Holly's The Crickets, one of their influences.
Depeche Mode - It was actually Gahan who read the magazine as he was an art student, I believe, when the band met him - I think he's the one that recommended the name. Don't know if they'd have chosen the name because Gore like the sound considering it was Vince Clarke's band at the time.

Catherine Wheel - they named themselves after the firework of the same name, not realizing at the time that the firework was named for the torture device used on St. Catherine.
