there are great songs that are inspired in cities or places.
My personal favorite is California Girls by The Beach Boys because it make you feel like you really wanted to be in california.
other great songs about cities are:
Empire State of Mind by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys
Chicago by Sufjan Stevens
London Calling by The Clash
First We Take Manhattan by Leonard Cohen
recently: Pompeii by Bastille
My favorite band (Coldplay) have two:
Amsterdam from A Rush of Blood to the Head and Lovers in Japan from Viva la Vida
I'm obsessed with Laredo by Band of Horses, It's such good song, I'm going to put the video of the song:

My favourite of the ones mentioned is California Girls, great song!

The only song I can't think of that hasn't been mentioned, is Iron Maiden's Paschendale (about the Battle of Passchendaele during the first World War). Another great song, actually.

Perth- Bon Iver (anything off that album would have worked here)
Bixby Canyon Bridge- Death Cab
Lowell, MA- Death Cab
Southern Point- Grizzly Bear (Assuming it's about a spot on Cape Cod where the album was recorded)
Sodom, South Georgia- Iron And Wine
Pensacola- Manchester Orchestra or Deerhunter
N Dakota- Parquet Courts
Australia- The Shins
Galapagos- Smashing Pumpkins
Providence- Sonic Youth
Jacksonville- Sufjan Stevens

And the best album named after a place: The Meadowlands by The Wrens

Haha, my god, how could I forget that album? I'll mention Calgary, then, it might be my favourite song off of there.

Not about a specific city, but just about living in the city in general. This song (and Emergency & I as a whole) are all time favorites, but I think it will grow on me even more as I get older. I haven't really lived enough to expierence everything that is written about, but right now it's a nice preview

My Favorite. It was originally entitled "Driving to Kashmir". Ironically, it was written in the northern Sahara of Morocco and not on route to Kashmir. Kashmir is this just gorgeous, lush, northern region of India.
